Animations Are Here!

November 17, 2025 1:11 AM MST

... er, animations are back, technically.

Back in the earliest prototypes I had a single display and every roll was animated. As the project grew I drifted toward fonts, customization tools, and static sprites instead. Lately I’ve been wanting some more atmospheric visuals for marketing, so… animations are back. And honestly? Better than ever. Here’s a quick look at an 8-frame ‘flame’ I sketched in the new editor. I’ll show it running on real hardware later this week, so far it looks awesome!

Sir, this flame has no business looking this good in 8 frames. 🔥

    It's freakin incredible, man!!
I'm eager to put my hand on it 🤤👌🏾

Amazing. Very cool product and cool idea

Hey I already love the dice functionality but I was wondering if it could also function as clicker. I wanted to also use it for TCGs marking hit points and victory points.

This is sweet! The idea of it being a clicker for keeping track of command points in warhammer is something that could also be amazing

Hey! I literally developed something very similar for a college final my freshman year. It was a Digital dice with an OLED screen with a customizable amount of dice. Scripted in Arduino and made in like 5 days on a time crunch. Worth it? Absolutely. Defiantly gonna keep following this!

As a confirmed Dice Dragon (i have far too many sets to be a mere dice goblin), i want this.

Housing Swap Demo

Maurer November 5, 2025 12:23 AM MST

Here's a quick video showing how swapping the internals between housings is done.

Here I'm swapping the "guts" between two housings. Depending on the housing design there are a couple of screws to remove, but then the electronics pop out as a single piece - it even operates just fine without any housing at all!

That’s so clean it deserves a +2 bonus to admiration!

Do you need any distribution or manufacturing support for when it's completed?

Furthermore, when you do release, it.Is there any chance that the casing will have a protective plastic or similar material covering it?While it spins?

Just something to protect it from damage

New Sci-Fi Housing Design

Maurer October 29, 2025 11:30 PM MDT

This, however, IS my definition of sexy.

As part of my ongoing “voice of customer” research (read: my social media hustle), I’ve heard loud and clear that people love the ability to swap shells and customize the dice. That’s perfect, because designing new shells is one of my favorite parts of the project. I’m aiming to create one new design per week—partly to build out the downloadable housing library, partly to keep traffic flowing to the landing page.

Entry #1: The Expanse. I wanted to capture the vibe of my favorite sci-fi show while mixing in anime-mecha panel lines and a bit of Formula 1 speed aesthetic. The color scheme ended up veering toward “Pokeball,” but honestly, I think it works.

I also created a new font inspired by Eurostile (the infamous sci-fi typeface) and added it to the font library for future builds. And yes—I added chevron sprites, because nothing says “badass” like animated chevrons.

This is so sick! Would go perfectly with our cyberpunk tcg. I'll definitely be picking some of these up when you launch. Only idea I had is you should have a mode that cycles through random numbers before landing on the number. Just feels more random than it landing instantly on the number. Just a thought. Such a cool design.

Thanks, thats a cool idea! Someone else suggested that the texts starts out spinning rapidly like a slot machine before slowing and "locking in" to the final animation speed, which I also like. I'll definitely incorporate something like this.

Added Copy-Paste Function to Dice Editor

Maurer October 23, 2025 9:52 PM MDT

Copy-Paste isn't as sexy as new dice designs, but sometimes you've gotta do the grunt work, ya know?

A quick video about the new copy/paste functions in the sprite editor.

Also added a clear function since I was messing up all my existing sprites trying this out and needed a way to quickly hide the bodies...

Hey, nice job on this, myself. Also nice job adding a comments section. ::cool self-high-five::

    That's hawt. You single?
  • Steve October 25, 2025 3:09 PM MDT
There any SDK for this? Third party firmware development? You have schematics published?
  • Drew October 27, 2025 5:30 PM MDT
Steve - I'm focusing on the minimum viable product right now, we'll see about APIs and development information someday...
  • Rob November 24, 2025 12:21 AM MST
An SDK/APIs, or even the ability to re-flash the firmware, would make this a must-buy hacker toy. Just saying. =)

Looking forward to seeing what this turns into.
